Indian Art, Literature and Culture
CGPSC notes on Indian art and culture: architecture and sculpture, painting, classical music and dance, literature and philosophy, with Chhattisgarh links.
Chapter Overview
Indian art and culture (भारतीय कला एवं संस्कृति) is the thread that runs through every period of history: the Great Bath of Mohenjo-daro, Ashoka’s lion capital, the Kailasa temple, the Taj Mahal, Ajanta’s murals, the Natyashastra, Kalidasa and the six schools of philosophy. In CGPSC Prelims Paper I (India GS) it appears as pair-matching questions: monument and dynasty, painting and school, dance and state, text and author, darshana and founder. Chhattisgarh adds its own examples, from the brick Lakshman temple at Sirpur to the Raigarh gharana of Kathak.
